Coca-Cola, Honey, Brown Sugar, Pulled Pork

Coca-Cola, Honey, and Brown Sugar Pulled Pork

This pulled pork recipe is seriously the best pulled pork you will ever eat. My 2 roommates and i will eat 7 pounds of pork in two days, no problem.

Its the most mouthwatering Delicious pulled pork ever!

Pulled Pork Ingredients:

  • 7  pound pork shoulder
  • 3/4 2 liter of Coke
  • 2-3 cups water (enough to cover pork shoulder after its cooked down)
  • 1 white onion
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup Mr Yoshida's
  • 10 - 15 dashes of Worcestershire
  • Teaspoon of spicy mustard
  • 1/3 cup honey (organic honey preferably)
  • 5-10 minced garlic cloves depending on size. (Depending on how much you like garlic)
  • Teaspoon of cayenne
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Pulled Pork Cook Time: 4 - 5 hours

Pulled Pork Instructions:

On a Stove top in a Teflon pot at medium heat: Add coke,  2-3 cups water (enough to cover pork shoulder after its cooked down), 1/2 cup brown sugar  1/3 cup Mr Yoshida's cooking sauce, 10 - 15 dashes of Worcestershire, Teaspoon of spicy mustard, Teaspoon of cayenne or about 10 dashes, Salt and pepper to taste. In a separate skillet add minced onion with 5-10 minced garlic cloves depending on size, (Depending on how much you like garlic). Cook the onion and garlic until golden brown and then add to pork mixture.

Add pork shoulder right away on low heat and cook for about an hour rotating pork shoulder every 20 minuets. After an hour add the 1/3 cup honey (organic honey preferably).

Once pork shoulder starts to cook down, pull the shoulder out and cut it half. Every 20 minuets keep cutting pork shoulder in half until you have 10 -15 pieces of pork. Keep stirring the pork (this real helps to get the brown sugar and Honey mixed around very well!

Let 10 - 15 pieces of pork cook for another 45 minuets.

After the pork starts to get really dark and soft, pull out all pieces of pulled pork and place in a bowl. Turn the heat down to low. Let the pork cool down for about 10 minuets and start pull off all the fat. You can usually slice the fat off with a knife. You can leave some fat on, just get rid of the bigger chunks of fat.

The pork is extremely hot so if you cant stand the heat, get the heck out the kitchen!

I pull of all the fat and then discard in a bowl with a couple plastic bags in it (no clean up)

Once you have all the pork off, cut the pieces of pork in half again. You should now have 20-30 small pieces of pork. Once all the fat is cut off return the pork to pot and turn back to medium high. Let these 20-30 small pieces of pork cook for another 45 minuets to 60 minuets until "dark dark" brown. Keep stirring the pork (this real helps to get the brown sugar and Honey mixed around very well!

After you have extremely dark pieces of meat, use a wooden spoon to keep stirring and start pressing down and mashing on the pieces of pork to start breaking them apart. Mash the pork pieces down as much as possible until you have about 50 small pieces of pulled or mashed up pork, At this point you should have PULLED PORK!

After you finish mashing up all the pork get a strainer and put the strainer in another large bowl (like a big salad bowl or something). Drop everything in the strainer. With a wooden spoon start mashing and pulling the pork apart. The pork is going to be very hot so i use a wooden spoon because it doesn't burn my hands. The pork will pull apart better when its hot instead of cold.

THERE YOU GO and ENJOY!!!!

You can also save all the juices and add some of the juices in after you put the pork in the fridge. Sometimes the pork will dry out after it sits in the fridge, but if you just add some of the juices and heat it up in the microwave its still just as amazing as it is right off the pot.

Don't forget to add plastic wrap over the pork when you re-heat it. This will keep the pork at its tip top juiciness! :  )

TIP: To make an amazing pulled pork sandwich, get some coleslaw mix from the store and make some Cole slaw and get some buns. Toast the buns and drop a bunch of pork on the bun (Seriously over load the bun and then add a bunch of the coleslaw on top, BEST SANDWICH EVER!)

  1. WOW! This sounds like a really good pulled pork recipe. I have tried pulled pork that is similar to this. I usually use BBQ sauce and root beer. I'm sure it gives it a similar taste. There are many ways to do pulled pork. I have also tried to do orange juice one time. I didn't like it as much as using soda. Using soda for pulled pork is the only way to go in my book. I will have to give this one a go, the soda, brown sugar and honey must give it a UN-real taste!
